5 RV Parks We Actually Loved (Honest Reviews From Real RV Trips)
We’ve stayed at a lot of RV parks. Some were fine. Some were… learning experiences. But these five? These are the ones we actually recommend when friends ask where to go. No sponsored fluff—just real stays, real pros and cons, and how we planned each trip to avoid the usual RV headaches.
1. Zion River Resort – Virgin, Utah
Why We Loved It
Sometimes you pay a premium and actually get what you paid for. This park sits just outside Zion National Park with massive pull‑through sites, full hookups, and views that don’t feel like a parking lot.
The Real Details
- Site Size: 45+ ft pull‑throughs (our 32‑footer felt small)
- Hookups: Full 50‑amp, water, sewer
- Amenities: Pool, hot tub, clean laundry, solid camp store
- Cell Service: Verizon & AT&T both strong
What Made It Special
The private shuttle to Zion’s entrance saved us money and stress. Staff were genuinely helpful—rare and appreciated.
Heads Up
$80–$120/night in peak season. Book early or don’t bother checking.
Gear That Helped: Leveling blocks + water pressure regulator (sites are big, but always be prepared).
Ronnie’s Take: “Buddy, I’m not a ‘resort’ raccoon—but hot tubs with red rock views? I can adapt.”
2. Harvest Hosts (Farms, Wineries & Breweries)
Why We Loved It
Harvest Hosts isn’t a campground—it’s a membership that lets you stay overnight at farms, wineries, and breweries across the country.
The Real Details
- Cost: ~$99/year membership
- Hookups: Usually none (dry camping)
- Best For: Self‑contained rigs & unique stops
What Made It Special
We’ve stayed at a lavender farm, a cidery, and a sunflower field—all unforgettable. You’re expected to buy something from the host, and honestly, you’ll want to.
Heads Up
These are working businesses, not resorts. Follow arrival times and be respectful.

Ronnie’s Take: “I had a heart‑to‑heart with a goat named Gerald. Solid listener.”

3. Anastasia State Park – St. Augustine, Florida
Why We Loved It
Florida state parks are elite, and Anastasia proves it. Shaded sites, beach access, and historic St. Augustine just minutes away.
The Real Details
- Site Size: Mix of back‑in and pull‑through
- Hookups: Water & electric (30/50 amp)
- Amenities: Beach access, trails, clean bathhouses
- Cell Service: AT&T solid, Verizon spotty in spots
What Made It Special
Spaced‑out sites under live oaks and walkable beach access—rare combo.
Heads Up
Florida parks open reservations 11 months in advance. Set a reminder and book early.
Gear That Helped: Long power extension cord + surge protector.
Ronnie’s Take: “Built a sandcastle. Ocean said no. Sunset said yes.”
4. Hipcamp Near Moab, Utah (Private Land)
Why We Loved It
Forty acres. No neighbors. No noise. Just red rocks and stars.
The Real Details
- Cost: $15–$40/night
- Hookups: None
- Best For: Boondocking & solitude
What Made It Special
Total silence and unbeatable night skies—20 minutes from Arches.
Heads Up
This is true dry camping. Test your setup before committing multiple nights.
Planning Tip: Always check satellite view and access roads before booking.
Gear That Helped: Portable power station + extra water containers.
Ronnie’s Take: “The silence was loud, buddy. In a good way.”
5. KOA Bar Harbor / Oceanside – Maine
Why We Loved It
Yes, it’s a KOA—but this one delivers. Ocean views, wooded trails, and close access to Acadia National Park.
The Real Details
- Site Size: Up to 70 ft
- Hookups: Full hookups, WiFi that actually works
- Amenities: Pool, hot tub, lobster bakes
What Made It Special
Community lobster dinners and staff who actually help you plan your park visits.
Heads Up
Ocean‑view sites book far in advance. Shoulder season is your friend.
Ronnie’s Take: “I ate so much lobster I briefly became one.”
